photoblog image My Building

My Building

This is the decoration on one side of my apartment building. It was built about 100 years ago and has been well kept up. It's now known as Murphey School Apartments and was converted into 48 apartments. It's also a part of an historic neighborhood so developers can't touch us. The actual entrance is elsewhere around the corner. It's a nice place for me.

Looks like a good substantial place to abide, Larry
Larry Bliss: It is... the walls are so thick, I can barely hear my neighbors... smile

Sounds like a fine place to live. It's good that such old buildings are retain and reused rather than bulldozed.
Larry Bliss: Yes indeed... they are preserving a few of the old buildings around here, though much has been lost...
Bee-jeebers who'd a taught it.
Larry Bliss: One of my neighbors went to school here...
My elementary school was turned into apartments too. It burned down in the 70's though. Did you happen to go to this school?
Larry Bliss: No, I went to another fine-looking old school though in the same city...

It looks and sounds like a nice place to live.
Larry Bliss: It is, Anne, and the rent is agreeably low (it's subsidized housing).
This looks like a handsome building with a lovely warm brick
Larry Bliss: The rest of it is quite nice too...
I really love that idea, Larry! They did the same thing with the elementary school my sisters attended in Laramie. The gymnasium floor was left for whomever got that apartment - basketball striping and all! Kinda cool!
Larry Bliss: Definitely cool... sadly we have no old basketball courts, but the old auditorium is now a theatre...smile
Good for you, Larry. That kind of "permanence" is comforting, I know.
Larry Bliss: As permanent as things get in this temporary world...

It is sort of like you have never graduated. Always going back to school. Looks solid.
Larry Bliss: I wish I were in school... smile It is a solid old building...

That is so cool. We have buildings similar in Pittsburgh, renovated churches, schools, factories that are now apartments.
Larry Bliss: It's a trend!
this is the same place that you lived in last week Larrygrin

I think that was smart to make it 'untouchable'.. too many buildings were broken down. Wonderful entrance.
Larry Bliss: It is a handsome edifice....
