photoblog image From My New Camera

From My New Camera

After 10 years (!) I finally bought a new camera! It's a Nikon D3300, full of bells and whistles I don't know yet. This is one of my first shots, of a crepe myrtle on the grounds of Murphey School. I am playing with my aperture right now. (Somehow that sounds dirty.) I have dreamt of owning a Nikon for some time now...

The camera is a present to me, from me, on the occasion of my semi-retirement. I am still working, just less often...

Today is a good day... hope it is for you!

Well congratulations, Larry! I imagine you will be quite pleased with your new toy!
This is a great shot to start out with - nice DOF & light on that beautiful crepe-y bark!
Larry Bliss: Thank you Elizabeth--I am looking forward to some good floral shots later on...
Good for you, Larry, to gift yourself with such a delightful present. Have fun with it, in spite of the learning curve.
Larry Bliss: I am even going to read the owners manual--how many people do that? smile I feel young when I am learning new stuff...

Congratulations on semi-retirement Larry. Now get out there with your Nikon and wow us all with what you can do!
Larry Bliss: That's the plan, Chris! I will be interested to see what pictures I find...

Playing around with the camera is very important.
Have fun with the new toy and I think this 'first' picture looks great.

Be good and dirty with that Nikon - that is how you learn all about it. Semi-retirement is the start of the good years.
Larry Bliss: thanks for the good wishes, Louis. I'm looking forward to new experiences...
What a great gift to yourself and it makes so much sense. The non-working at work time can be spent with the camera. Congratulations!
Larry Bliss: Thank you Mary. I have several ideas as to how to spend the extra time...
