The Bain Project #6

These are flocculation balls, once used to help settle the sediment in untreated water. Thousands of these were found onsite. The letters on the balls serve no purpose but were added by the artists.

"Flocculation balls" sounded quite intriguing until I looked it up in the dictionary, Larry. smile
There is such a strong sense of abandonment with a touch of surrealism here that I think a b&w presentation would fit this image much much better.
Larry Bliss: Yeah, I first thought flocculation meant flagellating sheep. wink You make a good point about the b/w. Something to ponder...

Fscinating Larry: never seen one of these before
Larry Bliss: Neither had I, Chris. They're the same size as billiard balls and about twice as heavy.
I like the temperate use of colour here, and the light is very evocative. This is much more like an early C20th Italian 'still life' than a surrealist image I think.
Larry Bliss: Thank you... it's good to have you back to the SC blogs...

Nice shot - good exposure control
Larry Bliss: I wish you could have been there--you'd have found plenty to shoot!
