Sea Oats

From the archives... I wonder what they taste like?

If they're from the archives- I imagine they're not very good at this point! smile But the photo is really beautiful! The light they're catching makes them look unreal - like they're made of gold, or bronze or something!
Larry Bliss: Thank you, Elizabeth... Yes, I suppose they are a bit spoiled by now. But there is a new crop every year...

I've always wondered what sea oats are to begin with, Larry. Based on this image, I know I'd like them!

Not as nice as they look Larry...
Larry Bliss: I will never know... there are signs everywhere telling people not to go to the dunes where they grow...
What a gorgeous shot! They hardly look real.
Larry Bliss: I took the pic fairly early in the day, as I recall...

Great detail Larry but I see no sea.
Larry Bliss: Look harder! smile
LOL at Elizabeth. Never tried them Larry, but I read that recently, Floridian ornithologists discovered that the pygmy burrowing owl makes its nest within sea oat colonies to conceal its young from natural predators such as the frigate bird. smile
Larry Bliss: I have never seen any owls up here on the coast--they must be good at hiding...

Very nice texture and tones in this Larry - it's aged well! smile
Larry Bliss: Sometimes pictures improve with age... smile

Larry Bliss: They do look appealing...
"Sea oats are a protected grass in most states along the East Coast. Picking or disturbing sea oats is punishable by fine in Georgia and Florida." Perhaps you'd better not try!
Larry Bliss: Now I know... sad

A very good picture. I wonder who sows the wild oats?
Larry Bliss: Perhaps some night photography would tell us... wink

I like the light on this very much. Tom appears to be well versed in such things.
Larry Bliss: Yes, but I am still curious how they taste...

Larry Bliss: That would be a trip worth taking...
A bit salty perhaps?

It might surprise you, I think a little salty.
Wonderful shadows and composition. Great DOF.
