Brilliant shot in b&w Larry! What was the building used for prior to becoming fire practice? We have a similar building in Boston that the Boston FD use for practice. smile
Larry Bliss: I am not sure of the building's prior use... glad you like the pic...
Dang - that would suffice! I like the B&W for this!
Larry Bliss: Credit should also go to my old Canon rangefider with its fine lens... makes me miss the film days...

I thought it was the house of a tall thin person Larry..
Larry Bliss: LOL... a very tall man indeed...
straight or what?
Larry Bliss: I am not sure of your meaning...

Looks fit for purpose, Larry
Larry Bliss: Form follows function, eh?
they don't seem to practice a lot Larry
Larry Bliss: I have a feeling it's not in current use...

Nice that they have used Georgian style windows and door Larry. Great charm for such a building. I wonder how many more stories it contains. Someone suggested that it is wise never to stay in a hotel above the 10th floor, because that is as high as fire ladders reach. Food for thought eh.
Larry Bliss: All the stories are in view--I didn't get the very top of the building...
Starting them or putting them out Larry?
Larry Bliss: Starting them so they can train people to put it out...
A substantial building for such a purpose
Larry Bliss: Quite so!
nice concept. but from the exterior, no signs are visible of this use
Larry Bliss: True.

And I bet it never burns down, Larry??? They learn fast. smile
Larry Bliss: I am sure they do...
This looks like a very upmarket fire tower, compared to what our firemen practice with.
Larry Bliss: It's in a semi-upmarket area...

It looks great - too good for fire practice!
Larry Bliss: Maybe it can be converted to very small offices...smile

Great architecture and a sign of an upright citizen living there.

I discussed some aspects of the film days with someone this past weekend. I don't really miss them smile
Larry Bliss: A man of high standing, as it were... My Canon rangefinder does less than my Canon PowerShot, of course, but it's still prettier... smile
So how often does it get burned down? smile
Larry Bliss: Every morning at 8am smile Rebuilt by 4pm

Sounds like a good plan. I thought it could have been the last remaining house in a street where land space was at a premium...
Larry Bliss: For people who like stairs... smile
