It's coming along. Is it really called the "Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral"? I don't think I've ever heard of a Cathedral directly named after Jesus... Huh....
Larry Bliss: That's the full name... I rather like it...
this is an amazing shot Larry... there are people on several ladders on top of the scaffolding building the outer shell of the dome....petersmile
Larry Bliss: Gives you an idea of the scale, doesn't it?
I was going to say the same thing that Elizabeth said...never heard of a church/cathedral named that. Hmmm. And why not! So, will their be an hydraulic lift to position it where it needs to be?
Larry Bliss: My semi-educated guess is that cranes will be used...

Not many places get new Cathedrals Larry
Larry Bliss: Raleigh's current cathedral is tiny--smallest in the country, I believe...
Quite an ambitious design Larry.
Larry Bliss: Located on a commanding height, too...

I can sort of work out, how the rest will happen. Can't help but wonder how they got those domes in place, hundreds of years ago.
Larry Bliss: Those cathedrals have always been amazingly built...
It's coming right along. Don't tell me that Tyvec has blue dollar signs on it.
Larry Bliss: I can't tell, but it would not surprise me...
Looks like a giant Easter Egg
Larry Bliss: So it does...

I think they will say a little prayer when the big cranes come and hope NO wind will be there, to put the dome in place.
That is quite the structure. The people giving scale is amazing. THIS IS HUGE.....
I read what you wrote to Chris... from the smallest in the country to the tallest/biggest one.. man alive...
Thanks for sharing the process.
Larry Bliss: I think there will be a lot of praying, to the effect of, don't let me drop this thing!

Those men on ladders look very insecure - I suppose they haven't desinged curved scaffolding
Larry Bliss: It's a little nerve wracking seeing them...

I assume taht this will lifted up into position when finished? That will be a HUGE Lift, I should think.
Larry Bliss: It will be quite an operation. The child within me wants to see big helicopters used...
at a first glance this really does not appear to be a cathedral, Larry. interesting shot
Larry Bliss: A horizontal view suggests otherwise...
Looks like an Easter egg smile
Larry Bliss: Good place for one... smile
