photoblog image The Andrews-Duncan House #1

The Andrews-Duncan House #1

Built in 1874, occupied for many years by state government offices. A fine edifice in bad condition.

I went into photography because it seemed like the perfect vehicle for commenting on the madness of today’s existence. -- Robert Mapplethorpe

A fine looking building Larry, a shame its so neglected.
Larry Bliss: The surrounding houses are all beautifully restored, so this really stands out.
This would be a great project for someone with a lot of money and a lot of time!
Another appropriate quote!
Larry Bliss: Mapplethorpe was notorious for his sexually-oriented images, but I have seen his less controversial pictures, and he was an astonishingly good photographer who died way too young.

I love the decay, Larry...peeling skin all over.
Larry Bliss: So many photographers love decay. I'm one.

Dommage que cette maison ne soit pas restaurée.
Larry Bliss: Une grande pitié. Une autre maison à partir de cette ère a été restituée comme un restaurant. Peut-être cela travaillerait ici. A great pity. Another home from this era has been restored as a restaurant. Maybe that would work here.

Such a pity to see this dereliction Larry.

Mapplethorpe was rather a precocious idiot but I will seek out his proper earlier images on your recommendation..
Larry Bliss: It is sad indeed. You can find 10 flower pictures of Mapplethorpe at http://www.mapplethorpe.org/portfolios/flowers/ The eighth image is gorgeous. Other pages may offend.

Oh that poor gutteridge pipe in need of a lick of paint.
Larry Bliss: Everything is in need of first, about 8 years of scraping.
I hope this is restored before it is too late.
Larry Bliss: Me too Bill...

Now would be a wonderful building it it was restored. Are there plans that you know of to do that?
Larry Bliss: Google and find out.. smile
I can just visualize how this house will look if restored to its formal glory. So many original features to save.
Larry Bliss: I hope someone can visualize with a fat bankroll...
