photoblog image Root Balls

Root Balls

Scanned print, c. 2000.

In my old neighborhood, I found these trees that were ready for planting, and of course, I photographed the burlap around their roots. This probably reinforced a reputation with my neighbors as something of an eccentric. ah well. Not my problem!

I can't remember why the chains were there, but I'm glad they were. Chains are kewl!

Chains symbolise restriction, whereas root balls suggest something quite the opposite - burgeoning expansion and growth

You are not eccentric Larry, you are just wonderful..
Larry Bliss: that's very sweet of you to say...

I can't really see the link between the chain and the tree either, Larry
Larry Bliss: I am sure it is there somewhere...
The trees are hopefully still there and growing to maturity whereas the chain has gone on to other things.
Larry Bliss: an existential journey...
I like it very much. Yeah to eccentricity!
